Brief Info about West-Papua
Papua lies between Australia and the equator in the Pacific Ocean, approx 10.600km away from Dubai, quite close to Australia in fact. It is the easternmost part of the Indonesian archipelago and the second biggest island in the world. Our exploration will focus on Bailem Valley, more than 70 km long and around 20km wide, 1800 m above the sea level and surrounded by a crest of mountains some of which reach up to 4500mtrs. The gorge was not known to the western world until the 1940s. Bailem is incredibly lush and fertile, people living here have a farming tradition more than 9000 years long – much longer than in most other parts of the world. More than 400 distinct tribes exist here the same way as their ancestors in the Stone Age. We will live their life for about a week.
This is one of the last authentic adventures on earth. Dare only if you're wild at heart!
